(When you wake up in the morning are you excited)
I’m talking more about work rather than domestic situations in this article, however the premise for both holds true. It’s not about money though, it’s about worth – yours, mine, theirs, everyone’s. In my case the answer is a resounding YES!
Is it the same for you?
When you wake up in the morning are you excited? Do you wonder with relish what the day is going to bring you or how it will unfold?
Or are you waking up under or overwhelmed? Dreading going in, caught up in the awake-work-eat-sleep cycle?
If you are the former (excited) then Woohoo for you! I rejoice with and for you that you have found your thing. Well done, long may it continue and all hail to your powerful self.
If it’s the latter then I am sincerely sorry. Maybe use this article as a sign that it’s time to change your situation?
I absolutely adore speaking professionally. It’s not some ego trip…well, every good speaker has a certain amount of ego otherwise we’d never get up on stage and deliver effectively…so perhaps a little. However, the main reason, for me, is the thrill of seeing the spark of comprehension or enthusiasm in a listener’s eyes. The sparkle as the penny drops and I know, in a small way, I have just made a difference for the better in a fellow human being’s life. It’s thrilling and, though I am always exhausted after an event, the adrenaline rush I get is priceless.
I believe with complete conviction that, eventually, my dead body will be carted off a stage somewhere (what a great way to go – sorry in advance to anyone who has to do the carting!) and that makes me smile…well stupidly grin actually. I feel content, fulfilled and positively glow.
It wasn’t always that way. It took me years to work out what exactly did this for me and I tried all sorts. Trying and having a go is what’s important and if it’s not right then be brave, walk away and try the next path. You never know what is around the next corner which may be perfect for you but without trying you never will.
On paper, few people would look at my situation and life history and call me ‘fortunate.’ But hand on heart, that is a label I am happy to wear. Injuries aside, of course, I am…and I’m not talking material possessions either. I’m one of life’s lucky people who loves what I do. I’ve found my purpose, am motivated and I look forward to every day (dealing with builders aside!)
In all honesty, it took a near death experience to bring me to this path in life so while I’m not advocating anything quite so dramatic for you, I do say shake things up. It might be in a big way, or it might be that a series of small steps is more appropriate for you. Dip your toe in…Read up on your chosen subject, get the qualifications or work experience you need for career entry, network accordingly, use those social media channels to good effect. In short, do whatever you need to until you can look in the mirror in the morning and shout ‘Yes! I’m happy! Another amazing day ahead!’ and really mean it.
Life is short and experiences precious. Too much of our life is spent working for it not to be enjoyable and meaningful in some way.
Remember that Scottish proverb “be happy while you’re living as you’re a long time dead”? It is so true.
